The Short Answer: Yes, With a Few Rules
If you are searching for a hotel in Arlington that takes pets, the first thing to know is that "pet-friendly" means something different at every property. Some hotels take dogs of any size, some take only small dogs, some charge one flat fee, some charge every night, and some list themselves as pet-friendly but have only a couple of rooms set aside. The only way to avoid a surprise at the front desk is to know the exact rules before you book.
Here are ours. R Nite Star Hotel & Lounge, at 1175 N Watson Rd in Arlington's Entertainment District, welcomes cats and dogs up to 20 lb each, with no more than two pets per room, in designated pet rooms. The pet fee is $50 per pet, non-refundable, paid at check-in, and then $15 per day per room for each additional day, which covers up to two pets. The full policy, word for word, is on the hotel policies page.
The rest of this guide walks through what that means in practice: how to reserve a pet room, what the stay costs for one pet or two, what to pack, and how to plan your days in Arlington when your dog or cat cannot stay in the room alone.
Which Pets Are Welcome
The policy is written for small pets, and it is specific:
- Cats and dogs only. Other animals are not covered by the pet policy, so call the front desk before you travel with anything else.
- Up to 20 lb each. That covers most cats and small dog breeds. If your dog is close to the limit, say so when you call, rather than finding out at the desk.
- Two pets per room at most. Two cats, two small dogs, or one of each.
- Current vaccinations. Bring proof for each pet. A copy of your vet's record on your phone or on paper is the easiest way to have it ready.
If your dog is over 20 lb, or you are traveling with three pets, this policy will not fit, and it is better to know that now than at check-in. Call 817-652-3100 and the team will tell you plainly what is and is not possible.
How to Book a Pet Room
Pet rooms are designated rooms, and there are only so many of them. That is why the most important step is the phone call, not the online booking.
- Call the front desk first at 817-652-3100. Give your dates, the number of pets, and what kind they are. The team confirms whether a pet room is open and holds it for you.
- Book the stay. You can book on the same call, which is also how you get the hotel's direct-booking offers (multi-night stays booked directly can carry a 10 to 15% discount; promotions may be non-refundable, so confirm the terms when you book). You can also check live rates online, then call to attach a pet room to the reservation.
- At check-in, show the vaccination record, sign the separate pet check-in form, and pay the pet fees. Fees are confirmed at check-in and are separate from the room rate.
Booking through a travel site and simply showing up with a pet is the one route we would steer you away from. The room you get may not be a pet room, and on a busy weekend there may not be one left to switch to.
What the Pet Fee Costs for Your Trip
Because the fee has two parts, the total depends on how many pets you bring and how many nights you stay. The per-day charge is per room and covers up to two pets, so a second pet adds only its own $50 check-in fee.
| Stay | One pet | Two pets |
|---|---|---|
| 1 night | $50 | $100 |
| 2 nights | $65 | $115 |
| 3 nights | $80 | $130 |
| 7 nights | $140 | $190 |
How the table is worked out: $50 per pet at check-in, then $15 for each additional day, counted here as each night after the first. These are the pet fees only; the room rate is separate and changes with the date, the room type, and demand, so check it on the live booking page or with the front desk. If anything in this table differs from what the desk quotes on the day, the desk's figure is the one that applies.
For longer stays, a pet-friendly room pairs well with our extended stay options, where the kitchenette rooms let you keep your own food and your pet's food on hand.
Which Room to Ask For
Pet rooms are assigned from the designated set, so tell the desk what matters most to you and they will match it where they can. A few things worth mentioning on the call:
- A king or two queens. A couple with a small dog usually wants a king. A family traveling with a pet, or friends sharing, usually wants two queen beds, which sleep up to four. Our guide to king vs two queen beds explains the trade-off.
- A quieter room. Standard King rooms are on the quieter back side of the property. A calm room helps a dog that barks at hallway noise settle down.
- A kitchenette for a longer stay. The Studio Mini Kitchen King and Studio Mini Kitchen 2 Queen rooms have a sink, a two-burner cooktop, a microwave, and a full-height refrigerator. Ask whether one of them can be your pet room.
All eight room types are shown, with photos, on the rooms page.
House Rules During Your Stay
The rules exist so the next guest, who may have allergies, gets a clean room, and so every pet owner keeps the welcome going. They are short:
- Crate or leash anywhere on the hotel premises: hallways, parking areas, the lobby.
- Pets may not be left in the room without their owner. This is the rule that shapes your plans most, so the next section covers it.
- Bring your own pet bedding, blankets, and towels. Hotel linens are for human guests.
- Keep pet food, treats, and medicine in sealed containers.
- Walk your pet only in the designated areas, and bag and bin the waste.
- Noise: persistent barking or behavior that disturbs other guests may result in removal from the property.
- Damage: staff inspect the room at check-out, and any pet damage is charged to the owner. Owners are responsible for their pet's safety and for any harm it causes.
None of this is unusual for a pet-friendly hotel, but it is better to read it here than on a form at midnight.
Planning Your Days When Your Pet Cannot Stay Alone
Because pets may not be left alone in the room, the plan for your trip matters as much as the room. Arlington's big attractions are built for people, not pets, and most of them do not admit animals, so check each venue's own policy before you go.
- Split the group. Families often take turns: one adult with the kids at Six Flags Over Texas (0.7 miles from the hotel), the other with the dog, then swap.
- Plan around a game. AT&T Stadium is 2.5 miles away and Globe Life Field 1.7 miles. For a game or concert, arrange pet care for those hours, or let a travel companion who is not going stay behind.
- Use the short distances. Being close to everything means short trips out and back. Restaurants start about 0.4 miles from the hotel, and the Entertainment District guide lists exact distances to each venue.
- Green space. River Legacy Park, 2.7 miles from the hotel, is the nearest large park on the hotel's list of nearby places. Check the City of Arlington's current rules for pets in parks before you visit.
Free parking at the hotel helps here too: with your car right outside, a quick trip back to check on things, or to take the dog out, costs nothing but a few minutes.
Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals
Service animals are not pets under US law. They are welcome at R Nite Star, and no pet fee applies. Please tell the front desk in advance so the team can prepare for your arrival.
Emotional support animals are not service animals under the federal ADA rules, so the service-animal exception does not apply to them automatically. If you are traveling with an emotional support animal, call 817-652-3100 before you book and the desk will tell you how your stay will be handled.
Why Pet Owners Choose R Nite Star
A pet-friendly room is only half of a good trip with a pet. The other half is everything around it:
- Free parking right at the property, so you can keep the crate, the food, and the leash in the car and come and go easily.
- Free breakfast, continental on weekdays and hot on weekends, so the morning walk and breakfast happen in one easy hour.
- Free Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge and coffee maker in every room, and guest laundry on site for the blanket that did not survive the drive.
- A central location on N Watson Rd (SH 360) between Dallas and Fort Worth, about 15 to 20 minutes from DFW Airport by car.
- Late reception hours: the front desk is staffed until 2:00 AM Sunday to Thursday and 3:00 AM on Friday and Saturday, and after-hours arrivals receive check-in instructions by email and text.
- A fully renovated, non-smoking property with clear rules, which is what keeps the pet rooms clean for the next guest and the next pet.
